Common questions about a bank account in Georgia.
Can a non-resident still open a bank account in Georgia remotely in 2026?
Yes. Opening by bank power of attorney still works for non-residents, without any ties to Georgia, without a residence permit, and without traveling. Since 2022 the banks review applications more closely and decide case by case. We would not offer this service if it did not work.
Who cannot open an account?
For regulatory reasons we cannot open accounts for anyone holding citizenship or a passport from, or born in, the USA, Pakistan, Syria, or Iran, or in other internationally sanctioned countries. This includes US citizens living abroad. Russian citizens can apply, the bank reviews more closely, and approval is not guaranteed.
Do I need to deposit money?
It depends on the package. For SOLO packages, non-residents currently need a deposit of 30,000 GEL, for SOLO Club 100,000 GEL. TBC Concept Card has no fixed threshold, Concept 360 currently requires a deposit of 100,000 GEL or a regular income. Georgian banks currently do not enforce these thresholds strictly, and in some cases they are not requested at all. The current figures are in our info email.
What does the account opening cost?
Our service fee is a one-time 997 EUR per account. If you want accounts at both banks, it applies to each account. On top of that come the bank's annual fee, which you deposit into your new account yourself after the opening, plus notary and shipping. We do not collect any bank fees.
Does Georgia report my account to my home country?
Georgia has taken part in the automatic exchange of information (CRS) since 2024. The tax authority of your country of tax residence can receive your account data. A bank account in Georgia does not change your tax obligations there. You declare any income where you are tax resident.
Can I open a business or joint account?
No, the remote opening is for personal accounts. The banks do not offer joint accounts, but sub-accounts for additional people are possible after the opening. For companies we offer a brokerage account, ask us about it.
Can I cash out crypto through the account?
Georgian banks are considered open to payouts from well-known crypto exchanges. The bank may ask for proof of the source of funds. Specific questions about using the account are best discussed with your banker after the opening.
