The Latvia Digital Nomad Visa is a residence program designed for remote workers who earn their income independently of the Latvian labor market. It enables location-independent professionals to establish legal residency in Latvia while continuing to work for foreign employers or operate their own businesses remotely.
The program is open to individuals who meet a defined income threshold of EUR 3,433 per month. This requirement confirms the applicant's financial capacity to sustain themselves during their stay without depending on local employment or state support.
Family members are includable in the application. This allows spouses, dependent children, and other qualifying relatives to accompany the primary applicant and obtain residency under the same visa framework.
This visa does not provide a pathway to Latvian citizenship. It functions as a temporary residence permit for qualifying remote workers and their families, with no progression toward naturalization or permanent residency status built into the program structure.
What level of income you need to show
The minimum monthly income requirement is EUR 3,433. This threshold must be demonstrated and maintained throughout your visa validity.
You must prove income from remote work or self-employment, employment by a foreign company, freelance income, business operations, or investment returns all qualify. The income must originate outside Latvia and be earned while you work remotely.
Documentation required includes bank statements, employment contracts, tax returns, or business accounting records demonstrating consistent monthly earnings meeting the threshold. Income proof must cover at least the preceding three months and establish a credible pattern of ongoing earnings.
Income sources that do not qualify include Latvian employment income, government benefits, family support, or informal cash transfers without documentation. Your income must be verifiable, traceable, and genuinely remote in nature.
