01 · OVERVIEWWhat makes this program stand out
The Digital Nomad Visa is the South Korea visa that gives remote workers 1 year with a 1-year renewal. The South Korea Digital Nomad Visa provides legal residency for remote workers who earn income from sources outside South Korea. The program grants an initial visa valid for 1 year, with the option to renew for an additional 1 year. This structure allows digital professionals to establish a base in South Korea for up to two years total.
Qualification is based on demonstrating consistent remote income. Applicants must show earnings of at least US$5,500 per month. This threshold establishes that the applicant maintains stable financial capacity while residing in the country. The visa is designed specifically for individuals whose work is performed remotely and whose income originates from foreign employers or clients.
The program operates as a temporary residence permit. It does not require employment with a South Korean company or establishment of a local business entity. The visa holder works for foreign entities while physically present in South Korea. The one-year renewable structure provides medium-term residency without creating a pathway to permanent status or citizenship through this visa category alone.

What level of income you need to show
The South Korea Digital Nomad Visa requires a minimum monthly income of US$5,500. This threshold must be met consistently to qualify and maintain eligibility throughout your visa period.
Income must derive from remote work conducted outside South Korea. Qualifying sources include freelance services, online business operations, and employment with foreign employers. The income must be earned while you are not physically present in South Korea.
You must provide documentation proving your monthly income. Standard proof includes bank statements showing regular deposits, tax returns from your home country, employment contracts with foreign employers, or business records demonstrating consistent revenue. The documentation typically covers the most recent 3–6 months.
Employment income earned within South Korea does not qualify. Local work, local employment contracts, and any income generated through South Korean operations will not satisfy this requirement. The visa is designed exclusively for workers whose income originates from outside the country.
